The Way to Paint Pipe Fences

Pipe fences are usually located on ranches and farms and therefore are used to pen cows and horses. These fences are constantly exposed to the elements, and therefore experience a lot of wear-and-tear. You can improve the overall look of the fence and extend its life by painting it.

Scrape away any peeling paint on the fence with a putty knife.

Inspect the fencing for rust. If you find any, scrape away as much as you can with a wire brush, steel sheeting or sanding tools, then wipe the rust spots with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. Some rust may stay, but remove as much as you can.

Cover the rust spots with a rust inhibitor and let it dry.

Wash the fence soap and water to wash the surface.

Paint the fence with a metal priming paint and let it dry. This helps protect the fence against rust and provides a better surface for the paint to adhere to. It’s possible to put on the priming broker with paintbrushes or with a paint glove, which is a glove similar to a oven mitt but covered with the same sort of material according to a paint roller.

Apply a coat of paint into the fence and let it dry. Add a second coat if necessary.
