The Family Home: 8 Summer-Prep Sanity Savers

Every year I am just as eager for summer holiday as my children are. We look forward to lazier mornings, afternoons at the pool and road trips. There is more to getting ready for summer than buying swimsuits and flip-flops, however. Consider completing a few of these easy projects around your home to make sure that everybody stays entertained, organized and fair through those dog days of the summer.

Beach towels are among my biggest summer pleasures. But a lot of times when getting home from the pool, the children either leave them at the vehicle on on their bedroom floors at a pile. Creating a little corner such as the one shown here will make it easier to hang beach towels once you get home and will be certain they’re dry the next time they are needed. Keep buckets or baskets below to include sandals and sunblock.

It’s important to keep children reading all summertime. Carve out a small nook with piles of books plus a comfy seat to lure them on afternoons when it is too hot to be outside.

Ensuring the garage is in order not only will make it easier for you to pull the household in and out, but it is going to enable your children to receive their bikes and helmets by themselves.

Before school lets out, consider going through your children’s toys. If you’ve got more toys than you can manage, maybe storing some away for monthly turning is in order.

Tip: It’ s a lot easier to sift out the junk, rotate toys and make contributions when children aren’t about. Put aside some time when they are in college or playing with a buddy on the weekend to perform this undertaking.

Organizing the pantry may not seem like an obvious thing to do before summer, however, I promise you, making healthful snacks simple to reach for children will save your sanity.

In our home we’ve got errands to achieve before we head out on daily summer adventures. Establishing a place in a frequent area (like the kitchen shown here) where you can hang chore charts and organize a family calendar will help everyone stay in the know.

Changing bedding out to lighter, more breathable fabrics and placing fans in warmer areas of your home will help everyone stay cool and comfortable.

In case you’ve got the space in your yard, now’s a fantastic time to think of straightforward kid-friendly elements you can add to the landscape. Sandboxes, outside chalkboards and a swing are fine, inexpensive ideas.
