Go Crazy With Your Decorating — You Will Fit Right In

Go bonkers. This year, it is completely OK. In reality, it is a fad. With folks no longer as nomadic as they were prior to the recession (purchasing and selling and purchasing) they want their homes to signify who they are.

Before, the moving around supposed owners retained their homes virtual blank slates. Or at the very least a slate they would not get connected to, as well as one that has been simple to stage for another sale.

Today designers are visiting more riskiness, adventurousness and boldness. Lidewij Edelkoort, a trend forecaster at Paris, voiced a similar message at a recent Trend Union conference in London, imagining more playfulness in colors and patterns. Folks are now currently attracted to ultratactile substances, such as fibers and brick and furnishings such as the voluminous Edra sofa.

The Edra sofa is matched by curvaceous Harper chairs along with a daring swirly fitting pattern here. The twig art lends texture. As people are spending so much time on the internet, at a nontactile surroundings, they are craving feel in their environment, Edelkoort states.

Though this room has a striking amount of white, it’s anything but simple. Geometric shapes include measurement, and the chairs are upholstered in cloth that’s blue with white branches. Branches are a favorite option now; it reminds folks of the environment they so miss.

Dublin, Ireland, designer Julianne Kelly says she uses wallpaper to add dimension, thickness and feel. In one of the current projects (shown here), Kelly’s client let her teenage daughters have a hand in deciding upon this Elitis wallpaper because of their rooms. Kelly agrees that individuals are picking bolder decor because they don’t move as often, but also because people are more adventurous and confident in their choices than they used to be.

Interior designer Denise O’Connor also cites the market as a catalyst for bolder options. “Homeowners must make the space fit them. Now they can put their mark on it,” she states. The O’Connor-designed space here has daring wallpaper contrasted with a recent Venetian-glass-style mirror. Quirky.

This room shows all the tendencies. Definitely tactile. Plump furniture piece with a dash of daring colour. Light blue wallpaper that provides dimension and a touch of nature. A natural-fiber rug and basket. Tufted velvet. Perfection. On point. Personality galore.
