A Modern Romance in Ontario

Soothing grays, lively vignettes, and creative wall artwork decorate the house of Sacha and Melissa Leclair. Both moved in their townhouse the day when they got married (“We have to go to a honeymoon!” States Sacha), and so are smart enough to ask cash as their wedding presents in order that they could decorate their very first house.

When they moved in their townhouse in Ottawa, Ontario, the 1,500-square-foot space hadn’t been redecorated in quite some time. Pastel walls and large gold light fixtures adorned each room. Melissa and Sacha, both interior designers with a flair for the contemporary, got to work altering the townhouse in their dream house. “We have heard a whole lot,” says Melissa. “We learned how to operate collectively, and what each other’s style resembles.”

The bedroom was initially painted a blue-gray, which Sacha believed too dim. After a few months, they decided to go with a daring black-and-white background behind the bed. “Ever since that time, the bedroom is now our favorite room in the home,” says Sacha. “We have definitely learned that sometimes you don’t get a space perfect in the first attempt, or with your initial idea.”

They utilized a soothing neutral colour palette for a foundation in the family room, with contemporary pops of vivid green and white.
